Rick Owens Distorts the Converse Weapon

Twenty years ago, Rick Owens viewed sneakers as “pedestrian, suburban banality.” Then he started going to the gym. He started considering how to make sneakers more him. With the Converse x DRKSHDW TURBOWPN, the classic 1986 Converse Weapon is reframed. The vibe is pure Owens.

Exaggerating both the upper and tooling, his signature touch augments the familiar lines (the Y-bar and heel cap) and the shoe is made bombastic. “When I discovered how powerful just oversizing something a little bit was, which I've done with a lot of my clothes, that became one of my tools,” Owens says.

The shoe features an elongated tongue, mirroring the TURBODRK Chuck 70. The Weapon’s outsole is nearly doubled in the TURBOWPN, forming a platform-like stance. Within, the TURBOWPN houses a CX foam drop-in and subtly reinforced toe box.

Another Owens signature is the inclusion of his DRKSHDW iconography. “One of the main things that I think it suggests is empathy and consideration of systems of living that might not be standard,” he says.

The launch black colourway reflects the Weapon’s original debut, and underscores Owens’ approach to contemporary luxury.

The Converse x DRKSHDW TURBOWPN releases August 31 at converse.com, RickOwens.eu, Rick Owens shops and select retailers.

The 7 Best Sneakers of 2021 (So Far)

Once we have survived from 2020 there are some big questions on everyone’s mind:
  1. Should we get prepred for World War III?
  2. How can we stop the entire planet from Zombie attacks?
  3. And, much less importantly, what’s the next big thing going to be in the world of sneakers?

First thing to remember about sneakers; One can never own too many sneakers, especially in 2021. From haute-couture collabs to revisiting the year 2000, these are the sneaker to know over for this year.

1. Julius Black Lace-Up Sneaker Boots

The Japanese menswear brand Julius rooted in a broodingly gothic mood. These ankle-high paneled buffed leather and canvas boots in black is not just cool; also comfortable and useful for everyday look. Round toe.

2. Allen Edmonds Courtside Custom Sneakers

A minimalist leather sneaker has become an essential for every man’s footwear rotation, and Allen Edmonds serves it best.

3. Air Jordan XXXV Basketball Sneakers

There’s a brilliant aesthetic that manages to feel both old-school and modern at once. One can wear for style as much as for hooping.

4. Converse Digital Terrain Run Star Hike

The best-selling Run Star Hike is back like never before, in a textured, map-inspired knit and fuse details for added protection from the elements.

5. PUMA Dreamer 2 Basketball Sneakers

Puma has been turning out some of the best-looking basketball shoes since relaunching the division in 2018, and the latest iteration of rapper J. Cole’s signature line might be its smoothest design yet. The black and yellow colourway looks solid both on court and off.

6. Nike Air Max 270 React SE

A 1993 classic, the ultra-streamlined Nike Pantheon went out of production and has since been “retroed” (the term for bringing back an OG pair of kicks in an ever-so-slightly updated way). Well, the Air Max 270 React SE takes inspiration from the Pantheon's super sleek design and also features a super-soft React foam base.

7. Nike Blazer

Regarding the minimal silhouettes, Nike’s Blazer is one of the oldest trainer designs still on rotation. First released in 1973, it was Nike’s best basketball trainer at the time, but has since gone on to find fame among skaters and sneakerheads alike.

Converse Reveals Full Utilitarian "Mountain Club" Collection

After a glittery “After Party” pack, Converse has taken a different approach for its utilitarian “Mountain Club” capsule. The new collection reinterprets three classic Converse styles — the Chuck Taylor All Star, One Star and Fastbreak — adding GORE-TEX® technology to make the shoes waterproof. As a result the Mountain Club line is at once stylish and functional, including its military heritage.

The pack’s utilitarian influence continues with instructions such as “FOLD GUSSET THIS SIDE ONLY” and “KEEP DOUBLE LACED TO HOLD FIRMLY” visible on the upper.

The full Mountain Club collection is available from the Converse web store and via select retailers from November 8.

The ultimate Happy Feet: Converse meets John Varvatos!

When I see a label "Limited Edition" somehow it makes me want to buy them all. Maybe it's because I'm a woman. I don't need a reason to shop. Neither do men!
There is nothing wrong with wanting to look good!
When it comes to men fashion shoes have a special place there; and the accessories. Men shoes just determine the guy's style whether he is a well-groomed men or not. So... First things first!
Find great shoes to buy!
My favourite brands for men shoes are Bally, Lanvin, Margiela, TOM'S and of course Converse for casual and comfy look. John Varvatos is another passion for me in menswear.
Therefore I call it The ultimate Happy Feet! Because Converse meets John Varvatos!

The Greek-American high fashion menswear designer had a mega collab with rockin’ brand Converse and produced the most appropriately named shoes ever!

Lovingly made for men!
